Exciting News: Bernadette Jones will present at SHRM National in Chicago!
I am thrilled to share that I will present two sessions at the SHRM National Conference from June 23-26 in Chicago. This opportunity to engage with HR and non-HR leaders from across the country is an honor and a significant milestone in my journey as an HR and DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) professional.
Session 1 Overview:
Title: Peacekeeping in Polarized Times: HR’s Role in Navigating Political Debates and Triggering Topics
Date: June 25, 2024, 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm
Session 2 Overview:
Title: How to Navigate Through Challenging Times in the Workplace
Date: Monday, June 24, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
Session 1
This session will examine the challenges of managing political and sensitive workplace discussions. We will understand how divisive conversations impact culture and inclusion while increasing risks. Participants will engage in interactive exercises, including role-playing scenarios and group discussions, to practice these strategies and share their experiences.
Why This Session is Important Now
With a significant portion of the workforce back in the office full-time, these conversations are more prevalent and can impact employee engagement and productivity. As highlighted by recent surveys and case studies, such as the Google employee protests, organizations need to establish clear guidelines and support systems to manage these discussions effectively.
Session 2
California HR Pros and Non-HR Leaders
I invite California HR professionals and non-HR leaders to join us at the upcoming convention on Monday, June 24, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm as I facilitate a dynamic roundtable, “How to Navigate Through Challenging Times in the Workplace.” This session will provide invaluable strategies and practical tools to manage and support your teams during change and uncertainty effectively. Don’t miss this opportunity to gain insights from industry experts, share experiences with peers, and strengthen your leadership capabilities. Let’s build resilient, adaptable, and supportive workplace environments.
My Work with SHRM National and Northern California SHRM
Over the years, I have worked closely with SHRM. I serve on the Professional Development Committee and Chair the DEIB Subcommittee for Nor Cal SHRM. These roles allow me to contribute to the growth and development of HR professionals, focusing on creating inclusive and equitable workplace cultures.
I have presented at multiple SHRM events and have spoken and trained nationally, sharing insights and strategies to help build inclusive cultures, advance HR professional development and DEI. My commitment to these issues drives me to continually seek ways to support and empower HR professionals in their crucial roles.
Join Me in Chicago!
I invite you to attend this impactful session at the SHRM National Conference in Chicago. We can learn, share, and develop strategies for fostering respectful and inclusive workplaces in polarized times.
